Heute gibt es mal was Anderes zu sehen: Meine Domäne ist ja eher alles, was mit Garn und Stoff zu tun hat. Aber bei der Elfquest-Con, von der ich schon erzählte, gab es diesmal die Möglichkeit, das Holzbrennen auszuprobieren. Das ließ ich mir nicht nehmen! Und so saßen wir mit hölzernen Dingen und Lötkolben bewaffnet im Hof zusammen und haben Bilder auf Holz übertragen.
Dies ist das Brettchen, das ich dort angefertigt habe:

Of course I seized the opportunity! And so we sat down in the courtyard, with wooden things and some wood burning tools and tackled transferring pictures onto wood.

Eine Freundin, A., hatte glücklicherweise ein paar Vorlagen dabei, die wir benutzen konnten - ich kann nämlich definitiv nicht gut genug zeichnen, um so etwas frei Hand hinzubekommen. Das Bild zeigt Schnitter, die Hauptfigur des Comics Elfquest, mit seinem Wolfsfreund. Ich muss gestehen, es wäre mir lieber gewesen, das Partnermotiv dazu zu verwenden, das zeigt nämlich Abendrot, einen meiner Lieblingscharaktere. Aber dazu hatte A. die Vorlage leider nicht dabei.
A., a friend of mine, luckily had brought along some artwork we could copy - I definitely can't draw so well that I could draw something like that myself. The picture shows Cutter, the main character of the comic Elfquest, with his wolf friend. I have to admit, I would have liked it better if I could have used the partner image to this one, because that shows Nightfall, one of my favourite characters. But A. didn't have the artwork for that one, unfortunately.
Schlecht sieht Schnitter aber auch nicht aus, oder? Ich finde, dafür, dass ich das erste Mal Holz gebrannt habe, habe ich das schon ganz gut hingekriegt. Vielleicht bekomme ich noch einmal ein Holzbrenngerät irgendwo zwischen die Finger, dann könnte ich ja noch ein weiteres Brettchen mit Abendrot verzieren :).
Cutter doesn't look half bad, though, does he? I think that I managed quite well, considering it was the first time I did such wood burning. Maybe I can get some wood burning tool again, then I could decorate another board with Nightfall :).
Im Moment bin ich mir noch etwas im Unklaren, was ich mit dem guten Stück anfangen soll - zum darauf Frühstücken ist es mir zu schade! Derzeit ziert es meine (nicht sonderlich hübsche und auch nicht aufgeräumte) Fensterbank. Vielleicht sollte ich einen Aufhänger daran befestigen und es an die Wand hängen?
At the moment, I'm not quite sure what to do with this lovely piece - it would be a pity to eat off it! Currently, it adorns my (neither pretty nor tidy) window sill. Perhaps I should add a hanger to put it on my wall?
