[WIP Wednesday] Ein bisschen von allem

Es wird mal wieder Zeit für einen WIP Wednesday - heute Nachmittag schien tatsächlich die Sonne, und ich habe die Gelegenheit genutzt, ein paar Fotos zu machen.

Mein Plan, jede Woche darüber zu posten, ging übrigens nicht wirklich auf, wie man vielleicht gemerkt hat. Es scheint sich eher zu einem monatlichen Feature zu entwickeln. Aber das ist auch okay, denke ich. So habe ich mehr Zeit, tatsächlich Dinge fertig zu stellen ;).

Heute gibt es eine bunte Mischung aus allem möglichen!

So it's time for another WIP Wednesday - this afternoon, there was actually some sun, and I seized the chance to take a few pictures.

My plan to post every week didn't quite work out as you probably noticed. It seems to become more of a monthly feature. But I think that's okay, too. This way I have more time to actually finish stuff ;).

Today there's a little bit of everything!

Nora von A Red Apple postete vor kurzem über einen niedlichen Fuchsschal, und ich hatte sofort Lust, ihn nachzustricken. Allerdings habe ich ihn etwas angepasst und mache einen grau-weißen, extra kuscheligen Wolfsschal daraus :). Es fehlt noch der Kopf - ich sollte mich beeilen, sonst ist der Winter vorbei!

Nora of A Red Apple recently posted about a cute fox scarf, and I immediately wanted to make it, too. However, I made some little changes and will make it a gray-white, especially fluffy wolf scarf :). I still have to do the head - I should hurry, or else winter is over!

In einem meiner Rollenspiele findet alle zwei Monate ein Art und Fic Trade statt, wo man für einen anderen etwas zeichnet oder schreibt und dafür von ihm ebenfalls ein Bild oder eine Geschichte bekommt. Das Bild, an dem ich gerade arbeite, ist für Joanne, die Spielerin des abgebildeten Charakters, und ist Teil meiner Tarot-Serie. Wie man sieht, ist noch einiges zu tun ...

In one of my roleplaying games there is an art and fic trade every two months where you draw or write something for another player and get a picture or story in return. The picture I'm working on right now is for Joanne, the player of the character pictured here, and is part of my ongoing tarot series. As you can see, there is still a lot to do ...

Die Kissen für meine Mama wachsen auch - das erste ist schon fertig, und bei diesem hier fehlen nur noch der Reißverschluss und die zwei Seitennähte. Wie man sieht, konnte ich der Versuchung nicht widerstehen, wenigstens ein bisschen Patchwork reinzubringen.

The cushions for my mom are growing, too - the first is already finished, and this one only needs the zipper and the two seams at the side. As you can see, I couldn't resist doing at least a little bit of piecing.

Und gesponnen wird auch - bei mir bleibt die Spindel nie lange leer, denn das geht so schön nebenher, wenn M2 und ich mal wieder unsere Lieblingsserie Criminal Minds angucken. Die Farben auf diesem Bild täuschen, die Wolle ist eigentlich eher rotbraun. Aber so, wie sie hier aussieht, würde sie mir auch gefallen!

And I'm spinning again - my spindle never stays empty for long because that's something I can do on the side when M2 and I are watching our favourite crime drama Criminal Minds. The colours in this picture are way off, the wool is rather a reddish brown. Though I do like the colours as they appear here, too!

WIP Wednesday II: Stoffe!

Es ist mal wieder Zeit für einen WIP Wednesday. Tatsächlich hat sich mein Plan, ihn einmal wöchentlich zu posten, als nicht praktikabel herausgestellt ... Dazu bin ich tatsächlich zu gut darin, Dinge zu Ende zu bringen und nicht tausend Dinge auf einmal anzufangen. Das ist an sich nichts Schlechtes, bedeutet aber, dass ich oft mittwochs nichts habe, worüber ich bloggen könnte. Nun ja, heute habe ich immerhin ein paar Sachen!

It's time for WIP Wednesday again! Actually, my plan to post it weekly turned out to be impractical ... I am actually too good in finishing things and not starting a thousand things at the same time. In itself, that isn't something to complain about but it meant that I often did not have anything to blog on Wednesdays. Oh well, today I have a few things!

Über die Feiertage habe ich es endlich geschafft, unsere Vorhänge fertig zu nähen. Dunkelheit in meinem Zimmer, yay! Die Vorhänge sind nicht wirklich einen Post wert, denn sie sind ganz schlicht, aus dunklem, festem Baumwollköper, nothing to write home about. Aber das obige Bild zeigt, was sie in Zukunft schmücken wird: Vorhangmanschetten. Die karierten sind für M2, die die Manschetten in eher unauffällig haben wollte - also blau, wie ihre Vorhänge. Ich bin dagegen der Meinung, dass sie ruhig etwas Schmuck sein können, und darum werden meine aus diesem wunderbaren nostalgischen Sepia-Blumenstoff. Zugeschnitten sind sie, jetzt muss ich sie nur noch nähen - das sollte aber kein Hexenwerk sein.

Over the holidays I finally managed to finish our curtains. It's dark in my room at night, yay! The curtains themselves are not really worth a post since they're very basic, made from dark, thick cotton twill, nothing to write home about. But the picture above shows what will decorate them in the future: curtain holders. The checkered ones are for M2 who wanted them to be rather low-key - so they're blue, like her curtains. I, however, think they can easily be a nice decoration, and therefore mine will be made from this wonderful nostalgic sepia flower fabric. They're cut and ready to go, I just need to sew them - but that's not rocket science, right?

Hier gibt es ein kleines Wiedersehen - über dieses WIP schrieb ich schon in meinem ersten Eintrag. Es wird auch nicht das letzte sein, denn bis ich damit fertig werde, wird es noch dauern. Die Scrappy Square-Decke besteht inzwischen aus zwei Blöcken und sechs Reihen, die mal der dritte Block werden sollen. Insgesamt wird sie aus 12 Blöcken bestehen, es gibt also noch viel zu tun!

This is a little reunion - I already wrote about this WIP in my first entry. It will not be the last time, either, since it will take quite some time until I finish it. The Scrappy Square top is now two blocks and six rows, soon to be the third block. Altogether, it will be made from 12 blocks, so there is still a lot to do!

Das hier ist ein Fast-WIP. Der Gutschein in dieser Hülle lautete nämlich auf zwei Kissenbezüge für meine Mutter, und ich habe mir über die Feiertage endlich die Zeit genommen, meine Stoffe nach etwas Passendem zu durchforsten. Die Versuchung, einfach neue Stoffe zu kaufen, war groß (es ist doch immer wieder schön, einen Vorwand zum Stoffe kaufen zu haben), aber ich habe dann doch schöne Stoffe in meinen Vorräten gefunden. Weil einfach aus einem Stoff zu langweilig ist, werde ich mehrere davon kombinieren. Im Moment denke ich, dass ich die rotblauen Karos mit dem dunkelblauen Stoff kombinieren werde und die orangefarbenen Blätter mit einem grünen Stoff.

This is an almost-WIP. The coupon in this sleeve was for two pillow cases for my mom, and during the holidays, I finally took the time to look for something suitable in my fabric. The temptation just to buy new fabric was great (it's always great to have an excuse to buy new fabric) but I managed to find pretty fabric in my stash anyway. Since a case made from just one fabric is just boring, I will combine several of it. Currently I'm thinking that I will combine the red and blue checkered one with the dark blue and the orange leaves with some dark green.

Da wir derzeit viel Criminal Minds auf DVD gucken, komme ich auch wieder viel zum Spinnen. Somit ist mein Fortschritt bei Touch of Pink Vol. 2 inzwischen recht sehenswert - gut die Hälfte des Zugs habe ich versponnen. Noch ein paar Folgen, und ich kann wieder zum Zwirnen übergehen!

Since we're currently watching a lot of Criminal Minds on DVD, I get around to spinning a lot again. Therefore my progress on Touch of Pink Vol. 2 is coming along quite nicely - I have spun well more than half of the remaining roving. Only a few more episodes and I can start plying again!

A Touch of Pink

Diesen Strang Wolle habe ich gestern fertig gestellt. Ich hatte die rosa Wolle neulich von der Spindel nehmen müssen, da leider der Wirtel der Spindel lose war :(. Daher habe ich mich entschlossen, die Wolle gleich zu zwirnen und nicht zu warten, bis ich den Rest des Zugs versponnen hatte.

Somit habe ich sie mit weißer Wolle verzwirnt, die ich schon länger herumliegen hatte. Sie ist vierfädig verzwirnt - drei Fäden weiß, ein Faden rosa, was diesen schönen Effekt gibt. Das Endergebnis gefällt mir sehr gut.

I finished this skein of wool yesterday. I had to take the pink wool from the spindle recently since the whorl of the spindle was coming loose :(. Therefore I decided to ply the wool immediately and not to wait until I had finished spinning the rest of the roving.

Therefore, I plied it with some white wool I had lying around for some time. I used a 4-ply - three plies in white and one ply in pink, resulting in this nice effect. I really like how it turned out.

Der Strang ist allerdings etwas klein, um viel damit zu machen - es sind knapp 60 Meter, die nur 30g wiegen. Allerdings gibt es dafür eine einfache Lösung :):

The skein is a bit small to do much with it, though - approx. 60 metres, weighing in at only 30g. However, there's a simple solution to that :):

Da die rosa Wolle eine Zugabe war, als ich die abgebildete Spindel gekauft habe, weiß ich leider nicht, was für eine Wolle ist - und die weiße Wolle habe ich schon so lange, dass ich es bei ihr auch nicht mehr weiß.

Since the pink wool was a present from the seller of the spindle pictured above, I don't know what type it is - and I had the white wool for such a long time that I don't know what it is, either.
